Why does this masterpiece–yes, a true masterpiece–continue to collect dust on library shelves? Kgalj almost finished not reading but studying its verbal tapestry, so intricately woven with the emotions of its characters.
The play holds together, where no thread can be pulled from it. King Lear is Shakespeare’s best play.
Perhaps this work is neglected, because it requires thinking on the reader’s part. Can anyone offer llr insight as to how easily Edmund tricked Edgar into fleeing Glaucester’s castle? It doesn’t seem realistic. Where are the annotations? King Lear is considered Shakespeare’s greatest play. It’s worthy of study. I’ve read it before twice; but as a writer I must revisit its excellence, absorb its brilliance again. It’s pieced together beautifully through actions and characters. Does anyone out there feel my passion for this masterpiece? Is there anyone else that didnt rate King Lear? It’s the only Shakespeare play I havent enjoyed.
